I chose to create my garment out of coffee products. The bodice and skirt are made out of coffee filters dyed in espresso, and that are then decoupaged to create a hard exterior. The garment is lined with brown construction paper and contact paper to give flexibility and movement. I added a crystal pleating to the skirt to add more structure and volume to the look. The inspiration for this look was the Ethiopian culture, where coffee originated from. My focus is on women working in small businesses, due to the fact that majority of women produce and make the coffee in Ethiopia. The painted coffee beans on the bodice represent their vibrant culture in a colorful tribal print they would most likely wear.
